Designing with Intention: Creativity at the Core of NeoCon and Design Days

At this year’s NeoCon and Design Days, one theme stood out across showrooms, installations, and conversations: creativity. From bold visual statements to interactive experiences, the industry embraced a more expressive and human-centered approach to workplace design. Many showrooms invited attendees to become part of the design story themselves by adding their own marks through interactive art installations that evolved throughout the event. This sense of participation reinforced a clear message: today’s spaces aren’t just designed for people, but with them.

Creativity extended beyond the spaces themselves into how brands told their stories. Showrooms leaned into imaginative, memorable marketing moments ranging from playful visual concepts to unexpected brand ambassadors. In one standout example, a dog model was used to promote their solutions, drawing attention while creating a more approachable, engaging experience that resonated with visitors.

At the LINAK showroom, this spirit of creativity was not only reflected but it was a central focus.

Creativity in the workplace is no longer an abstract idea. It’s something that can be intentionally designed into a space through the thoughtful use of color, textures, materials, and layout. Across the MART and Fulton Market, we saw a shift away from uniformity and toward individuality with spaces that invite interaction, spark ideas, and reflect the evolving needs of the people who use them.

In the LINAK showroom, this vision came to life through dynamic applications and design versatility. Movement remained at the core, but it was elevated through creative expression. The showcased applications not only highlighted performance but also incorporated new LINAK Signature Colors—demonstrating how even functional components can contribute to a cohesive, design-forward aesthetic. From height-adjustable desks to innovative solutions like the height adjustable desk divider with Teknit® fabric, the showroom redefines how flexibility can support both privacy and collaboration. These applications demonstrated that functionality and design don’t have to compete but can enhance one another to unlock new possibilities.

Bringing creativity into office design can take many forms.

  • Color: Strategic use of color can energize a space, define zones, and create visual interest, shaping how people feel and interact within a space.
  • Textures & Materials: Layering materials like soft textiles, natural woods, and refined metals adds depth and tactility, creating environments that feel more engaging and intentional.
  • Unique Applications: Height-adjustable solutions extend far beyond desks. From integrated dividers to collaborative and lounge settings, movement can be applied in new and unexpected ways.
  • Layouts that Inspire: Flexible, fluid layouts support a range of workstyles, from focused tasks to group collaboration, allowing spaces to adapt as needs change.

NeoCon and Design Days reinforced that creativity isn’t just about aesthetics—it’s about enabling people to do their best work. By designing spaces that are adaptable, expressive, and responsive, the workplace becomes a platform for performance innovation.
